Originally designed in 1995 by golf legend and celebrated architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr., Playa Grande Golf Course is not only the last course he designed but also one considered among his best. Rees Jones (son of the original architect) and Bryce Swanson completed an extensive renovation of Playa Grande in 2015.
This Golf Course spreads out along a hilly area atop cliffs, earning it the nickname “Pebble Beach of the Caribbean.” Designed to offer a balanced experience and an exhilarating game of golf, both the front and back nine of the course feature an exciting mix of holes that run along the cliffs., providing a thrilling finish alongside the ocean.
The Playa Grande Golf Course, overlooking the crescent-shaped Playa Grande Beach, regarded as one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in the Caribbean, frony nine measures a massive 3,666 yards in total and the pick of these holes is the 193-yard 7th, played to a green that sits beyond a rocky inlet. Two par fives stand out on the back nine; the 488-yard 12th offers golfers a thrilling drive across a wide expanse of ocean and the 589-yard 18th is a fine double doglegged home hole.
The Golf Course is innit Playa Grande Golf and Ocean Club, a private residential community located in the heart of the Caribbean, on Rio San Juan in the Northeast coast of the Dominican Republic. Renowned for its raw coastline with iconic beaches and stretches of virgin rainforest set into the lush hillsides.
